The U.S. Senate is expected to vote in the coming days on a resolution authorizing President Obama to use military force in Syria. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is among the skeptics in Congress. He joins us to discuss his concerns.

A study published in “Science” magazine contends that poverty is so overwhelming and distracting that the poor often cannot think clearly enough to improve their lives. Dr. Eldar Shafir, a professor of psychology at Princeton University and one of the authors of the study, joins us to discuss his findings.
