Twitter is expected to roll out its initial public offering of stock on November 6 at an estimated $17 to $20 a share. Billions of dollars will be in play, and the level of interest the IPO draws will be an important indicator of the overall value of social media stocks. Jeff Bercovici, who writes the Mixed Media blog for “Forbes” magazine, joins us to discuss the implications of Twitter going public. Voters won’t find any major national elections on the ballot when they go to the polls on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that there are no significant contests. Ken Rudin, author of the “Political Junkie” blog at kenrudinpolitics.com, lays out the important gubernatorial and mayoral contests across the nation. Budget negotiations resumed in Congress this week, and while there were conciliatory statements, both sides resumed the political posturing that led to the budget fight in the first place. Joann Weiner, who teaches economics at George Washington University, says the difference this time could rest with six women—four senators and two members of the House—on the negotiating committee. Our sports commentator George Johnson recaps the 2013 World Series and the retirement of Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson in his 3-minute drill. Jimi Hendrix delighted his fans and appalled his critics in his time, and today he’s embraced as a legend. His creative genius comes into focus in the documentary “Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin’”, which premieres Nov. 5 on PBS. The film’s director, Bob Smeaton, and Jimi Hendrix’s sister, Janie Hendrix, join us to discuss the life and career of the legendary guitarist.
