Pro-democracy demonstrators angered by Beijing’s proposed voting reforms continued to protest in Hong Kong this week. China previously promised free elections for Hong Kong’s chief executive position in 2017, but now it is proposing rules that would allow Beijing to vet candidates before they make it to the ballot.
